Learning through Landscapes on outdoor classroom day
Following a successful launch in 2017, players of People's Postcode Lottery are celebrating Outdoor Classroom Day through a £550,000 partnership with Learning through Landscapes.
Funded through Postcode Local Trust, the Local School Nature Grants programme allows schools to apply for an assortment of nature equipment up to the value of £500 and a two hour training session. The packages are customisable, enabling Infant, Primary and Secondary schools to choose from a menu of items which best suit their learners and their setting. All schools in England, Scotland and Wales are welcome to apply.
Applications are open now until the 30th of November 2018.
297 schools were supported through the project in 2017, and in 2018 up to a further 500 will also benefit.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global initiative to support and promote the value of learning outwith the classroom, such as that facilitated by the Local School Nature Grants programme.
CEO of Learning through Landscapes Carley Sefton said:
"Outdoor education is a fantastic way to engage children and young people in learning - bringing to life many important parts of the curriculum in an exciting and practical way. We'd like to say a massive thank you to players, who are enabling us to help teachers and schools across Great Britain do so through the Local School Grants scheme".
